FAQs

Straight answers.

Planning, set-up, running it and using it safely. If your question isn't here, ask us in your consultation.

Buying

  • How much does a Flux sauna cost?

Every site is different, so prices are on enquiry. Book a consultation and we'll go through the set-up and the right way for you to buy.

  • How long does it take?

We build your sauna and ice bath in Hull in four weeks [CHECK: from order or deposit]. Allow time before that for your site and any permissions.

  • Can I see one before I buy?

Yes. Visit our showgrounds at Prestige, Northampton or Victory Leisure Homes, Gilberdyke [CHECK: the sauna is on show].

  • Do you offer finance or leasing?

We're developing a lease option and Business-in-a-box, where we lease the kit, take the bookings and run the marketing. Register interest and we'll tell you when it's ready. [NEED: finance options, if any]

  • Do you sell to homeowners?

Not at the moment. Our 8-person sauna is built for commercial use: parks, glamping sites, venues and sauna businesses.

Planning and your site

  • Do I need planning permission?

It depends on your council, your site and how you run it. Moving the sauna between sites can reduce what's needed, but it doesn't remove the rules. Councils treat mobile saunas differently, and some have asked for permission after opening. That's why every sale starts with a planning consultation with our team. We can't promise permission, but we'll help you go in prepared.

  • What do I need to prepare on site?

A level, solid base; drainage for the ice bath and any showers; power for the chiller and lighting; water for filling and showers; space and access for delivery; and somewhere dry for the wood. We'll give you a checklist. See how it works.

  • Can I move the sauna?

Yes. It's built on a purpose-designed trailer, so it can stay on one site or move between locations. [NEED: towing requirements, weight and road-legal status]

  • Do I need insurance?

Yes. Any business offering sauna sessions should have the right cover and a risk assessment for its site. [NEED: what guidance or documents Flux provides to help]

Running it

  • How long does the sauna take to heat up?

[NEED: typical heat-up time, and how it varies with the outside temperature]

  • Does someone need to tend the fire?

[NEED: honest answer on fire-tending and staffing during sessions]

  • How many people can use it?

The sauna seats eight, so you can run group sessions or separate bookings sharing the heat.

  • How do I look after the Thermawood and the ice bath water?

We'll take you through it at handover. [NEED: maintenance basics: timber care, water treatment and changes, chiller care]

  • Can you take the bookings for me?

We're piloting Business-in-a-box on our own park in North Wales: we take the bookings and run the marketing, and you run the site. Register interest to hear when it opens.

Warranty and aftercare

  • What warranty do I get?

A tiered warranty, with longer cover on the structure than on parts that wear. See Warranty & aftercare for the full details.

  • What if something goes wrong?

Get in touch and our team will respond [NEED: response time]. We'd rather sort it than argue about it.

Using a sauna and ice bath safely

This is general guidance, not medical advice. Operators should set their own session rules from their site risk assessment.

  • Who should check with a doctor first?

Anyone who is pregnant, or who has a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, a circulation problem (such as Raynaud's), asthma, diabetes or another medical condition. They should take medical advice before using a sauna or ice bath. The NHS suggests people may choose to avoid saunas in pregnancy, especially in the first 12 weeks, because of the risk of overheating, dehydration and fainting.

  • How long should a session be?

Keep it short and listen to your body.

    • Sauna: many guides suggest no more than 15–20 minutes at a time, with cooling breaks.
    • Ice bath: start with a minute or two and stay well under 15 minutes.
    • Get out straight away if you feel dizzy, numb, confused or start shivering hard.

  • Any other safety tips?
    • Don't use the ice bath alone, or after alcohol.
    • Drink water.
    • Warm up gradually afterwards.
    • Children should always be supervised, and site rules may set a minimum age [NEED: Flux recommendation].
